I believe it's entirely possible to cast different types of metals together; however, you must be cautious because their melting points vary greatly.

is correct, stainless steel and aluminum have different melting points. Aluminum melts between 600 and 660 C, while stainless steel melts around 1510 C. Be careful!

There's also the possibility of galvanic corrosion. This can occur when two dissimilar metals come into contact in an electrolyte. Stainless steel and aluminum could be at risk for this.
